The first ever Hong Kong Fintech Week will be held next week from 7-11 November. Not to be outdone by Singapore’s Fintech Festival, HK Fintech Week comprises a series of Fintech-related events, including conferences, seminars, demonstrations and networking events. It marks another step in Hong Kong’s goal to ‘become a worldwide hub for Fintech’, in the words of Financial Secretary John Tsang at a Fintech Meeting in New York a few weeks ago, amidst heavy competition from Singapore to be Asia’s leading Fintech hub.
We will be attending Hong Kong Fintech Week, and we are particularly looking forward to hearing more from the SFC and the HKMA about the state of Fintech in Hong Kong and what the regulatory agenda might look like in 2017.
