About Me

Claire is an associate in the financial institutions group at Freshfields. She principally advises on regulatory issues in both an advisory and a transactional context. Claire's recent experience includes assisting several major banks with the submissions of their US resolution plans and advising a number of institutions on the implications of benchmark regulation. She has been published in a number of legal journals and other publications, such as The Practitioner’s Guide to MiFID 2, the Journal of International Banking Law and Regulation and LexisNexis Corporate Resolution and Insolvency.

Claire is one of the co-founders of the Freshfields Fintech group. Taking advantage of the combination of her financial services practice and scientific background, she is keenly interested in developments in financial services, including new methods of carrying out payments, developments involving payment systems and the regulation of virtual currencies and blockchain technology.  Claire is active in attending and contributing to Fintech events and regularly presents to clients on Fintech matters.

Although she is based in London, Claire has spent time in Freshfields' New York and Milan offices working closely with financial institutions. In addition, Claire spent nine months on secondment to the Regulatory Change Management team at Deutsche Bank, where she advised on implementation of the regulatory reform agenda in response to the financial crisis, including EMIR, MiFID 2 and recovery and resolution.
